With the year coming to a close, the Missions/Outreach Team plans to focus on ministering to the local community by holding another “Food Drive.” With food prices up, the number of people impacted by food insecurity is also on the rise. Our next “Food Drive” will be held from December 3-17, and all donations will be given to the Socastee Food Pantry located near CLCC.
Nonperishable food items are always needed at food pantries, but the following are just a few suggestions: canned soups, canned chicken, canned tuna, peanut butter, dry cereals, instant oatmeal, crackers, cake/brownie mixes, pop-tarts, apple sauce, and fruit cups. (Canned food with pop-top lids is always a good choice.)
The Missions/Outreach Team would like to say “thank you” to everyone who continues to participate in the “Food Drives.” These food donations are so appreciated by the Socastee Food Pantry as they help meet the needs of those less fortunate in the Myrtle Beach area. Also, our team would like to say a special “thank you” to our church family who volunteers time each week at the food pantry. Your hard work in stocking, organizing, and distributing the food is appreciated more than you know!
The Socastee Food Pantry is a non-profit that provides
food weekly to people in the community who are in need. Volunteers meet on Monday mornings to stock and organize food items, and distribution takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday. For more information on this ministry, visit www.socasteepantry.com.
